Clifton community funds resuscitator for rescue squad

Clifton businesses and citizens rapidly contributed to buy a resuscitator after last week’s Bosque River drowning. Donations from the Volunteer Fire Company Civic Improvement Society and Lions Club total about 300 toward a 650 machine kept in the funeral home emergency car and run by J B Darden Jr. The device aids emergency treatment at distances and can handle two people, boosting the rescue squad’s capabilities during crises.

Nephew of Mrs Schulz Featured Soloist in City Concert

Robert Dale Olson of Galveston, nephew of Mrs Hugo Schulz, will be featured soloist with the Galveston Civic Orchestra at 8 15 p m Thursday in the Grecian Room at Hotel Galvez. Olson, 23, earned a bachelor of music in 1956 and a master in trumpet performance in 1957 from North Texas State College. He has studied with notable teachers, played in multiple ensembles, and plans further study possibly a doctorate. The concert is free and open to the public.

Clifton Flower Show Dazzles at Randle Home May 15

Clifton Garden Club held its spring flower show at Mrs. A N Randle’s 403 South Avenue E from 2:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday May 15. Exhibits featured artistic floral designs and horticulture with awards to Mrs. Ole J Hoel and Mrs. A N Randle among others. Herbert Reichert In Accident Near Waco

Herbert Reichert had a narrow escape Saturday May 17 when his gravel haul collided with another loaded truck while crossing a new four lane highway under construction between Waco and Temple. The other driver was seriously injured and hospitalized in Brooke Army Hospital San Antonio. Reichert was shaken but uninjured.

Banker Helen C Aars Named To Administrative Council

Helen C Aars president of Farmers State Bank Clifton was named to the Administrative Council of the Texas Bankers Association at the Houston convention May 11 13. The three year term places him on the council in effect a board of directors. Aars is a past president of the district bankers association.

Knusts Attend Texas Hog Breeders Field Day

Henry Knust and son Joe, noted Bosque County hog breeders, attended the Field Day For Hog Men at Texas A and M College on May 6 and 7. The top crossbreed hog from Llano County drew particular interest as the Knusts raise Berkshires. Mr and Mrs F T McCollum left for Chicago to attend the National Executive Boy Scout Convention. he is a Heart of Texas Boy Scout Council national committeeman.

Five local races appear on the Democratic Primary ballot for July 26 in Bosque County.
