Singing Convention At Meridian Sunday
A Meridian singing convention is set for Sunday May 8 at the large Tabernacle. The semi annual event draws singers and quartets from Tennessee and beyond and may feature the Stampe Baxter Quartet. Mrs Calvert H Hoel Buried After Illness at Local Sanitarium
Mrs Calvert H Hoel nee Ida Knust died at the local sanitarium on Tuesday May 13 after a long illness. Born February 1 1903 in Clifton Texas she was educated at Clifton College Meridian College and Baylor University. She married Calvert Hoel on July 24 1928 and had a daughter Jo Ann born in 1934. Survived by her husband a daughter her mother a brother Monty several sisters and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday with a home service followed by church rites at Zion Evangelical Church in Womack.
