Fort Worth May 5 1942 reports from C H Hoel director Bosque National Farm Loan Association reveal farmers and ranchmen are lowering debts faster as land bank loans improve to a ten year high. A reserve fund of about 850000 is built for cushion against future conditions. Interest on undeveloped funds matches borrower rates, aiding debt retirement and preventing foreclosures during hard times.

Velma Landgrat married Professor Walter Timmins of Hebron Nebraska at St. Pauls Lathes Church. The ceremony included local attendants and family, with the wedding party and guests described in formal wedding notices from the era.
The Texas Department of Public Welfare reports May gains in Old Age Assistance with 172,824 recipients, up from 169,005. Blind aid, Aid to Dependent Children, and related grants show increases. 3,008 new applications for ADC were received in May.

Public Memorial Service and patriotic rally organized by Selmer Erickson Post No 322 American Legion will be held at Clifton Athletic Field on May 22. Hon Andrew Dilworth of San Antonio will speak and preside as speaker at the event with no admission charge. The rally promotes civic and patriotic duties and honors veterans. the public is urged to attend.
On Friday night May R 1849 forty five members of Clifton High School’s senior class received diplomas at the City Auditorium. Honor Frank M Withon presided over the diploma presentation. Valedictorian B L Dahl Jr and Salutatorian Virginia Dunsom were announced. Oleta Elder earned a special mention for perfect attendance. The 1942 graduate list includes B J Dahl Jr Marjorie Lynn Walton Eloise Edwards Oleta Elder Vera Merle Remington Karen Gligetta El Damaine Jones Virginia Dibson Pauline Melakowsky Cass Sommerfeld and others.
