Farmers will receive crop insurance sums this year from the Pedant Crop Insurance Corp. Leroy K. Smith says this may be among the largest payments since the program began. A Legion post will sponsor a patriotic rally at Clifton Athletic Field on May 22 with speaker Andrew Dilworth, Department of Texas Commander, and no charge for dinner.

A wedding of special interest to friends of the family was solemnized May 2, 1942 in the Broadway Presbyterian Church Fort Worth when Miss Trinity Sue Bronstad became the bride of Dr. Walten Holt McKensie lieutenant in the Medics Corps US Reserve Rev J Holt Boles read the ceremony. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Owee K Bronstad of Denison North Texas Agricultural College and the University of Texas. The groom a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and of Washington University Medical School in St Louis is stationed at the Naval Air Training Base in Corpus Christi. Ushers were Dr William J Howall and Ted Bronsted. After the ceremony the couple left for New Orleans then Corpus Christ i to establish their home.

Volunteers May Choose Army Training By Age 18 or 19
Volunteers aged 18 and 19 may now select training in combat branches of the Army under the Selective Training and Service Act. Previously enlistments defaulted to the Army as a whole. Eligible volunteers may choose Infantry, Cavalry, Field Artillery, Coast Artillery, Armored Forces, Air Corps, Signal Corps, Engineers, or be unassigned if no preference exists. Santa Fe To Award 4-H Club Members In Texas
Galveston May 6 The Santa Fe Railway will again offer educational awards to outstanding 4-H Club boys and girls in Texas announced by Edward J Engel president. This year 192 awards will be given on farm club work records under Texas A and M College Extension. Winners will attend the National 4 H Choir Congress in Chicago with the International Livestock Exposition this fall. This marks the 19th year of the program with 1 186 youths receiving awards since inception including 354 Texans.

WPA Improvement Project Begins at Camp Hood
Two hundred WPA workers from McLennan, Jamitten, Bosgi, Bell and Coryell counties join the Camp Hood renovation effort. The project, begun April 29, will cost about 125000 dollars with 82080 funded by the federal government and the Army providing the remainder. Weekly payroll averages for the roughly two month duration include groundwork, road and infrastructure work, park and structure construction, and storm sewer installation.
