Clifton High School announces honor speakers for the Class of 1972 graduation. Valedictorian Janie Conrad, with a 93.67 average, and salutatorian Lazane Smith with 93.31 will lead ceremonies. Commencement speaker will be Judge Byron McClellan. baccalaureate speaker the Rev. Bryan W. Thornburg. Examinations run May 18 21 22 with early release May 23.

Clifton to annex land for shopping center project
City Council seeks to annex 29.21 acres between Avenue I and State Highway 6 for Clifton limits. Stanford Farr projects an $820,090 development including a shopping center a 50 unit two bedroom apartment complex and motels with construction hoped to begin June 18 to July 1. Farr says the center could serve 24000 potential customers.

Burglars broke into Central Texas Lumber Co at 201 East 5th St Sunday evening and took 325 dollars worth of merchandise. Police Chief Homer Waller investigates with no injuries reported. Minor vehicle damage occurred in three Clifton incidents that week.
