Effect of Home Plan on Tax Forgiveness Discussed by Peage
Dear Phienda, the text argues for extending at the source collection of federal income tax and warns against broad tax forgiveness. It explains that raising rates on the rich cannot cover government needs and that many workers pay through weekly deductions, while farmers face different timing. It critiques proposed reforms and argues for maintaining comprehensive taxation with minimal forgiveness, citing a hypothetical one million dollar income in 1942 and the windfall concerns. The author, R. Poage, Congressman from Texas.
