Clifton Garden Club hosted its annual show The Spirit of Spring in Bosque County in the Methodist Church fellowship hall. Awards included Educational Award to the library display and Tricolor Award to Frank Bishop for best floral arrangement, with multiple ribbons for horticultural and youth entries.
The American Cancer Society fund drive results are reported with partial totals from Fairview Meridian and Crawfills Gap. Cedar Shores and Meridian Residential also listed incomplete. World War I Barracks 1887 and Auxiliary will host the District Convention at Clifton City Hall on Saturday May 8. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. and the event runs until 5:00 p.m.
Row Frankarak selected as U dutyman of the Salvation Army service unit committee for Cufton. Officers include Richard Liardon Doyle Crews Kent Appieby Doug Ralback Lesie Vancee and J Darden. The group met to set procedures for emergency assistance and local commerce policy. Dan Johnston explained state Salvation Army services now available through the committee. Frank Horak says the committee will decide who is helped and the amount.
The Hog Creek watershed plans flood control structures to reduce silt, enhance fish habitat, and boost sport fishing. It cites key species including largemouth bass and channel catfish, with good fishing in streams, ponds, and Waco Reservoir areas.
A large Sunday gathering marked the formal start of Cattons new hospital project. Hospital officials and trustees spoke as ground was broken with a golden shovel to symbolize a dream becoming reality for the community.

Absentee voting for the May 1é Amendment Election began April 30 and runs to May 14. Bosque County residents may vote at the County Clerk's office in the Court House at Meridian. Voters are urged to study the four proposed constitutional amendments and cast their ballots.
Clifton High School Stage and Concert Bands perform together in Bettis Auditorium at 7 30 p m under Mel Cowan. Tickets are 1 for adults and 50 cents for students, available from band members or Calverts Pharmacy or Service Drug Store. Admission includes pie and coffee after the concert. Public invited.
The Clifton Bosque County Unit of National Retired Teachers will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday May 10 at the Clifton City Hall Clifton. This will be an important business meeting. All retired teachers in Bosque County are cordially invited to attend.
