The Garnersville school closes May 8 after seven months of operation this year. A play titled That's One On Bill will be staged Thursday May 7 at 8 00 p m with no admission charged. The PTA meets Wednesday night for its last meeting of the term as students prepare for final exams and rehearsals. Miss Dorothy Helms visited the school Wednesday.

Leslie Ford, twelve, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Ford, injured his left hand when a dynamite cap exploded as he picked it with a knife after using it for target practice with a .22 rifle. He walked home bleeding and in severe pain, was treated locally, then sent to a Temple sanitarium for further care with hope of saving the hand.
City Council in Clifton Texas approves first reading of Ordinance 188 regulating penning chickens. Second reading set for May 1 1931 and final passage on May 15 with effect thereafter. Violators face misdemeanor conviction and fines up to 25 dollars. Attest seal by W C Hurst April 17 1931.
The Lions held a Tuesday luncheon with few absentees and substantial business. Secretary Joe Wise and Vice President Lee Stuart attended the State Lions Convention. The Highway Committee pursues Temple Valley Mills and the No. 67 routing. Clifton College seeks county meet hosting, with Lions pledged support.
A deal among Waco, Clifton and Mustang landowners ends in a contract to spud a 2000 foot oil well with possible deeper drilling. Geologists see favorable oil shows and expect more leases after the initial spud. Local activity includes mohair and wool sales, births, and a school orchestra broadcast set for Percival School building Thursday night.
