Officers Nominated at the Clifton Mass Meeting

Mayor P J Sehow called a mass meeting to nominate four aldermen. J M Jenson B Carpenter and W D Miller for two year terms and J H Rachalg to fill the unexpired term of G C Cormany were nominated. All four were approved with no dissent. Current council members J M Jenean and C E Carlpeoter were re elected. The meeting adjourned after endorsing continued honest service.

Week's program at the Queen Theatre

The Queen Theatre schedules a weekly program featuring The Lone Fighter with H B Warner plus Leather Poshery and Barnet's Grudge. Other acts include Tom Miz and Lady to Board, The Orphan, The Face in the Fog, Lovey Dorey, The Midnight Alarm, Wolf Tracks, Vagabond Trail, Valley of Silent Men, The Man Next Door, and a luncheon by the Foods class. Admission ranges 10 to 80 cents with various showtimes Friday through Thursday.

Big Day's Work at City Park Unites Clifton Residents

Clifton residents joined in a massive park beautification effort last Wednesday. Merchants, clerks, bankers, carpenters and others worked from early morning, clearing brush, laying water pipes, and building small houses to create a recreational space by the Boeque river. Clifton College teachers and students contributed, and dinner featured barbecued beef, ham, coffee, and an ample display of pies and cakes. The event highlighted neighborly spirit and community cooperation across town.

Gardiner, Mans. March 23 John Shay, a World War veteran and former El Paso resident, may be the perfect juror for America. He was placed on the regular panel of the Thirty Fourth District Court at Texas by an order from Judge namny tees Jice to ease sane Satin. The sheriff noted the tall shares would be easily $20 and refused to accept on hay.

Revival Draws City to Methodist Church in Protracted Meeting

Strong town turnout for a prolonged revival at the Methodist church under Pastor T. G. Story with evangelistic sermons by Rev. Guy H. Witsom of Houston. The sermons mix fervor with clear gospel logic and appeal, drawing large crowds nightly and promising growth for Clifton’s religious life. Music by J. E. Baptist Church Invites All to Sunday Morning Worship

Pastor C. F. Brown invites parishioners to the 11 o clock service with Clifton of Valley Milly, plans a afternoon visit to Cranville Gap with BY PU, and an evening revival service at the Methodist church. Sunday School at 10, Junior BY PU at 2, Sunbeam at 4, Senior BY PU at 6:30.

Euterpean Club Hosts Lost Tribes Program

Mesdamn Alice Townsend and Fred Nelson hosted the Maxa One Euterpean Club Tuesday after finish March 18. The Lost Tribes of Salum and Tributes, the Mysterious City of the Desert, were led by director Master David Grimland. Readings were enjoyed, followed by a salad plate. Mire. Willett attended as a guest. Mesdames Nichol and Alvin Priddy will host Tuesday afternoon, April 1.

Ten Million Appropriation For German Relief Passed

Washington March 24 The House adopted a 10,000,000 appropriation to buy and ship food for destitute women and children in Germany. Funds to be spent in the United States and transported in Shipping Board vessels. The bill passed 240 to 97 after lengthy debate and amendments. An added provision urged buying supplies through farmers organizations where possible, approved 165 to 68.

Live Stock Meeting and Moonshiners Orchestra Schedule

Open accounts note owners Sam Nelson and Cowen will collect in Clifton while away for two months. Live Stock Association meeting at Clifton City Hall 2 p.m. Saturday March 29. Moonshiners Orchestra touring Texas leaves Clifton Armory for April 4 to perform at two spring dances.

Mrs Antoinette Olson Celebrates Eighty-Eighth Birthday

Relatives and friends gathered at Dr O M Olson home for the eighty eighth birthday of Mrs Antoinette Olson. Punch cake and coffee were served. She was an early settler in Borque county and Anderson county Texas, coming from Norway with her parents. The guest list included pioneers amid memories of Comanche raids.
