Clifton and Morgan Texas users report light draft and efficient cutting of oats with the John Deere Binder. They commend the third packer for short grain, the bundle carrier, and the outside reel support. Customers say it delivers the best work and plans to order again next year.
A State Education Department visitor reviewed our public school and recommends fifteen and one half units of affiliation. Graduates will be admitted to colleges without exams, with two more credits possible next year. Friday hosts declamation and debate with gold medals. Saturday features spelling basketball tennis track and field events with medals banners and a silver loving cup for the top school. Clifton teams prepare to compete as county schools join the Interscholastic Meet in Clifton.
Lars Larson eight miles west of Clifton suffered a severe leg fracture when a wagon load of lumber toppled near the Gary Creek bridge. The bone protruded through the flesh and was dressed at Clifton before he was sent to Valley Mills Sanitarium with Ole Bakke and Martin Olson for further care. His friends hope for a swift recovery.
The Queen Theatre reports patrons have had trouble getting seats for special shows but assures the best service and cleanliness. If seats are unavailable for the first show, patrons are asked to wait for the second show. D. C. Caraway.

Clifton mourns as Mrs Ellen Helm dies in Galveston after nerve specialist treatment and emergency surgery. Born 1858 in Missouri, she moved to Texas as a child and built Riverside Stock Farm near Clifton. Survived by three daughters and five sons, funeral held at Christian church with Elder Roberson officiating.

Curtis Hancock the two year chairman of the State Highway Commission was arrested at Commerce Texas by Commerce police at 1 o clock today. He was to give a good roads speech in Commerce but canceled due to prior commitments with Franklin county voters. Commerce authorities then escorted him to Mount Vernon where he delivered both engagements with no resistance.

Gatesville Texas March 14 oil excitement in Coryell County continues with most land leased and one contract let for a test well on the J S Clark farm eleven miles west of Gatesville drilling to start by April 15. Two other contracts are let but locations not yet set and twelve test wells are reported to be sunk in the county.
