Revival at Mixon Hall draws crowds led by Rev H H Friar

The Mixon Hall revival led by Rev. H. H. Friar attracts large local turnout each night. Sermons, especially the Gideon and the Three Hundred tale, are highlighted by strong singing led by Mr. Bradford and youth prayer meetings under Rev. M. C. Eidson. Services run daily at 2 pm except Saturday, and 7:30 pm nightly with Sunday sessions at 11 am and 7:30 pm.

Legislature Submits Eleven Amendments in Texas Record

The Texas Legislature proposed eleven amendments across three dates from May 24, 1919 to November 1920. Proposals include prohibition state wide, rural homestead aid, woman suffrage, governor salary rise, road bonds, Galveston Island improvements, convict earnings for families, university and A&M separation, city tax raises for small towns, and fixed salaries replacing fee laws.

Fowler Reappointed to Texas Highway Commission

Governor Hobby reappointed Charles S. Fowler of San Antonio to the State Highway Commission and sent the nomination to the Senate. The commission now includes R. M. Hubbard of New Boston as chairman and C. N. Avery of Austin alongside Fowler.

Scandinavian Lutheran Church Sunday Services and Activities

The Scandinavian Lutheran Church announces a full slate of services and classes next Sunday. Morning schedules include Sunday School at 10:00 and a Norwegian language service at 11:00, with an English service at 7:30 p m. The state levies Confederate pensions and schedules a vote on holding a constitutional convention. If approved, the convention will meet in Austin in June 1920 and delegates will be elected in March 1920, one from each representative district.

Meridian College Announces 1919 Baseball Schedule

Meridian College released its 1919 baseball schedule under athletic director F. A. Boutwell. The slate includes games at Meridian against Howard Payne College and Southwest State Normal, and road outings to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Thorpe Springs, Stephenville, Brownwood, and Oklahoma University with dates from March through May.

Mass meeting promotes new hotel and municipal building

A citizens meeting held in City Hall discussed securing a better hotel and possible municipal building. L. E. Tennison was elected chairman and C. G. Bronstad secretary. A hotel committee was formed with R. S. Clement chairing and other members named to report later, plus a city building committee to work with Civic Improvement Society representatives. The session adjourned after adjournment motion.
