Dr. W. C. Newberry known as the Sage of Southwest Texas will address the Clifton Chamber of Commerce fourth annual membership banquet at 7 p.m. Friday April 11 at the Clifton National Guard Armory. The humorist and philosopher was born in Gonzales and educated at Gonzales High School Southwest Texas State University Stephen F Austin State University and the University of Texas earning degrees in physical education sociology education administration and a doctorate.

City Park inspection and funding update by City Manager Neystel
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will inspect City Park with City Manager Kenneth R. Neystel on Thursday March 27. If accepted, the department will pay 5 500 supplementing 97 900 already contributed toward a total cost of 96 000. Neystel is a former football coach and public school administrator now in his ninth year with Southwest Texas State University teaching and researching. He has spoken in 41 states delivering over 1200 speeches and writes a column titled For Whatever It’s Worth.

Three Injured In Motor Accidents In Clifton
Police Chief Alvin James reports three separate motor accidents last week in Clifton. A pedestrian Laurice Sadler sustained a leg injury after a three vehicle collision on Riverside Drive at 9 40 p m Monday March 17 near a parked 1969 four door hardtop. A second incident at 11 30 a m Sunday on South Avenue G at 13th Street injured Henry Mampe and Annie Hampe who were taken to Goodall Witcher Hospital Foundation. A 1965 four door sedan and a 1968 two door were damaged. a third minor crash involved a 1962 sedan and a parked 1966 sedan with light damage. No injuries in the final doting contact. Police also report obscene phone calls and a gasoline theft attempt on West Live Oak Street.

Deadline Looms For Texas Vehicle Registration Changes
Texas motorists face a April 1 deadline to display 1975 plates or risk being stopped by law enforcement. The state adopts a five year license plate with annual adhesive stickers from 1976, placed in alternating corners to cover the debossed year. Four Bosque County Officers Graduate From Regional Police Academy
Four first year officers from Bosque County were among about 50 Central Texans graduating March 17 from the Regional Police Academy basic course in Waco. Named were Claude L. Rabies Clinic Draws Good Turnout in Valley Mills

The council will consider annexing 8.6 acres of the Frederick Lundt Survey at 7 p.m. Tuesday April in City Hall. A public hearing Monday found no opposition to the plan to create a residential subdivision adjoining Clifton. M. R. Fires Disturb Clifton Area. Two Cars and Brush Fire
Clifton Volunteer Fire Department battled two car fires and a brush fire in the week. A car fire occurred at West 3rd Street and Avenue R on Wednesday March 9. A second vehicle fire happened at the fire station on Saturday. The brush fire burned on Harald Schulze’s property in Hurst Springs on Sunday.
