Mrs. Alfred Bakke Dies Here March 21
Mrs. Alfred L. Bakke, 81, died about 10:20 am March 21 in Clifton hospital after three weeks of stroke illness. Born January 8, 1881 in Hamar Norway, she lived in Clifton since 1941 and was active with St Olaf Cranfills Gap Our Savior Norse and Trinity Clifton churches. Her survivors include daughter Mrs. Syver Holen of Clifton and sister and nephew/nieces in Norse. funeral held March 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church Clifton with interment at St Olaf Rock Cemetery.

Clifton Roping Club Hosts First Annual Quarter Horse Show
The Clifton Roping Club held its inaugural Quarter Horse Show on Friday March 20 at the Bob Hauke arena east of the city. Despite poor weather more than 100 horses registered from Texas Oklahoma Kansas and Louisiana with numerous towns represented and multiple Grand and Reserve Champions named across halter mare gelding and performance classes.

Witchers Board Caribbean Cruise From Dallas Friday
Dr and Mrs S L Witcher left Dallas by plane last Friday afternoon for Miami then Fort Lauderdale to begin an eight day Caribbean cruise. Dr Witcher will attend sessions of the Southeastern Surgical Conference with planned stops at Puerto Rico Trinidad and Nassau. They expect to return to Clifton Saturday of this week.
