Two injured in a one car crash seek 100000 each in Geninaie tide randal negligence. County Attorney Christian says he will file general denial and the court may default. Fieseler claims County employees failed to mow and warn of hidden defects at an unmarked drainage abutment.
The Rev. Robert Rachuig of Mosheim Baptist Church is named Clifton chairman for the Red Cross fund drive. The local drive runs the week of March 17 23. Red Cross Month proclaimed by President Ford highlights services to disaster victims service members families and first aid.
Clifton officials heard that inclusion in a national airport plan could unlock federal funds for runway overlay and a north end turnaround with state support. No hangar grants were noted. Representatives from Bosque Hill and McLennan Counties attended the Texas Aeronautics Commission hearing led by City Manager Kemith R. Neystel and Mayor Jim B. Smith.
Clifton Independent School District trustees cut cattle valuations to match Bosque County figures from $80 to $60 citing rancher losses due to markets. They re elected all faculty, approved Textbook Committee recommendations, and scheduled a 7:30 pm April 7 meeting at Clifton High to canvass votes. Seven retirements include Superintendent Appleby and CHS Principal Hansen. Additional insured coverage increases at Clifton Elementary are approved. Election on April 5 will be at Clifton City Hall and West Shore Fire Dept with Kincheloe as election judge. Nets for tennis courts approved. city council summer recreation program near.
Our Savior's Lutheran Church Norse and Faith Lutheran Meridian plan a March 16 program at 2 30 p m to mark the 40th ministry anniversary of Rev and Mrs Lawrence C Jenson with a church program and reception to follow.
Tickets for the fourth annual Clifton Chamber of Commerce banquet and membership meeting are available at the chamber office City Hall or Farmers State Bank Clifton. Ed D Newberry humorist and speaker will headline with Kenneth R Neystel announcing the event at 7 p m April 11 at the National Guard Armory Clifton.
Eleven students from Clifton High School Band qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest held in Killeen on Saturday. Among names listed are Vicki Cosper Billy Anz Ricky Richards Danny Orbeck Karen Wideraenders Ray Bekken Ronnie Walley Randy Curlee Marianne Richards Jeanne Moore and Joan Pierson. Vickie Cosper Billy Anz and Ricky Richards will represent Clifton in two ensembles at the state contest. Three others earned first division in class two: Debra Petrich Mark Horak and Hazel Branstad.
Six candidates compete for four Clifton Independent School District Board seats in the Saturday April 5 election. Five seek three year terms, including Mrs. E. F. Abercrombie, William Bellis, David Conrad, Dr. Troy Eggen, and Harold H. Schulz. Olee Bakke is unopposed for the remaining one year term. Dr. Eggen chairs the board. Mrs. Abercrombie recently filled Lane’s unexpired term but seeks a full three years. Charles Fehler Jr. did not file for re election.
Police report a $40 worth of meat taken from a freezer at a West 7th Street residence through an unlocked door. The incident occurred last month but was reported this month by Police Chief Alvin James. No injuries in four motor vehicle accidents this past week.
Fourteen entrants have entered the 23rd Lake Whitney Beauty Pageant to be held April 17 18 and 19. The Lake Whitney Association sponsors the event with Mrs. Doris Orton coordinating entries and blanks distributed to Laguna Park Meridian and Clifton. Contestants will wear one piece swimsuits provided by sponsors and evening gowns with no talent competition.
Mayor Jim B. Smith seeks a second two year term while Dr. Donald Gloff and Will Krugger Sr. run for council seats. Alderman Gene Aars did not file for nomination. Write-in votes allowed. Election set for City Hall on Saturday April B.
The fourth annual Clifton Band Parents meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 17, at 7 30 p m in CHS Band Hall. The nominating committee will present a slate of officers to be elected at the May meeting for the 1975 76 school year. BBQ plans for April will be discussed. Members urged to attend.
Members of the Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation's Women's Auxiliary meet March 18 at 7 p.m. in City Hall for a brief business session followed by a special program. Odell Burrows will summarize Mexia State School and residents of Chir on, then Sun shine Singers from Mexia State School will perform. Public urged to attend.
