Clifton Independent School District Board of Trustees and Clifton City Council have filed for upcoming elections. School board incumbents T J Wiggins Joseph Conrad and Loyd S Swenson seek three 3 year terms. Council candidates Clifford T Dyer Jean Pierson and Jim B Smith seek two year terms while Eldon Zimmerman and Ottis Tyler retire.

Clifton appoints Planning Commission and Airport Board

Mayor Charles M Isenhower announced the appointments of a Planning Commission and an Airport Board for Clifton under state statutes and a city ordinance. Members include W L Spieler as chairman, Robert Baldridge Jr Glen Beckner H C Smith and Dr Don A Gloff for terms of one or two years, with Bill Blewett chairman W L Spieler and James Wright on the Airport Board. The commissions will guide city growth, zoning, master planning, annexations and airport development, with vacancies filled by the mayor and council as needed.

Clifton Girl Scouts celebrate Girl Scout Week from March 6 to 12 with Brownie and Junior Troops highlighting activities. A Friday Father-Daughter Banquet at City Hall will award cookie sale winners and feature brief troop programs.

Clifton Hosts Five Entries In Lake Whitney Pageant

Clifton prepares for the 1966 Lake Whitney Pageant at Bettis Auditorium April 15 and 16 with five junior entrants Anita Wallace Linda McMillan Ginger Crawford Diane Railsback and Janice Summey the first junior entries. Linda Sue Foster and Karen Sue Phillips also participate in Miss Lake Whitney events with sponsors Murt's Lodge Hillsboro Bond Hardware Cedar Hill. Pageant committees plan swim suits outfits and an entry fee to cover costs and publicity photos.

Football Sweetheart Coronation at Clifton High March 15

Clifton High School Cubs hold the Football Sweetheart Coronation at 7 30 p m Tuesday night March 15 in Bettis Auditorium. Miss Lottie Bettis and others direct the event with the Stage Band providing entertainment to raise funds for the band and UIL activities. Sandra Eaton will be crowned 1965 Football Sweetheart with a royal court from district schools and visiting royalty also featured.

Bosque Memorial Museum Opens Sundays Through Summer

The Bosque Memorial Museum in Clifton will be open Sundays 2:00 to 5:00 p m from now through the summer months. It is closed in winter due to heating limits. Special weekday visits available by appointment with Mrs. Ole J Hoel Sr or museum curator Mrs. Jack Curzon at Morgan.

Clifton Heart Fund Drive Plans Thursday Canvass

The 1966 Clifton Heart Fund drive will run Thursday evening at 7 with a house to house canvass. Mrs. Fred A. Ludwig, president of the Jaycee Ettes, says the event is sponsored by the group aided by Clifton Jaycees. Residents are urged to donate when contacted.
