Bosque County Commissioners Court met on Monday February 28 approving the Bosque County Historical Commission annual report and naming 2011 appointees including chair Betty Johannes secretary Linda Weir and many others plus directors Rita Hanson Abby Birdwell Eleanor Chaffin Charles Blakely Phil Staley Kenny Klose Raymond Whitney Valeria Whitney Ralph Dahl and Shirley Dahl. The court also approved paying county funds claims salaries and wages totaling $95740.92 and paying all precinct funds claims salaries and wages. A tax refund request by Louis Dreyfus Pipeline LP was approved and Atmos pipe replacement project on County Road 2575 in Walnut Springs received approval. Gaskamp benefit dinner planned in Mosheim
A benefit dinner for Tommy Gaskamp of Valley Mills will be held Saturday March 19 at the Mosheim Community Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets cost 7 for adults and 3 for children under 12. Barbecue brisket beans potato salad dessert and drinks provided. An auction of various items will accompany the meal. Clifton’s Robert E. Binford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8553 and its Ladies Auxiliary release the February activities schedule including post and auxiliary meetings bingo and casino nights through March 25.

During the Bosque County weeklong Texas Independence celebration a Clifton Elementary School awards program honored fourth grade artists and tenth grade essayists. Tom Henderson welcomed guests and introduced Jo Atkinson, a 26 year veteran teacher, who described early Bosque County life in 1836 with home schooling by mothers, one room schools, and basic supplies.

District Court sentences four during proceedings
On Wednesday March 2 in Hamilton's 220th District Court Floyd David Covey pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual abuse involving his adopted daughter. He received three 40 year sentences and two 20 year terms, with a minimum 20 year custody before parole. The case prompted praise for the victim's courage from Assistant District Attorney Troy Walker.
