Clifton led with $2,150 raised toward its $2,700 goal as six other Bosque counties towns report progress in the 1945 Red Cross War Fund Drive. Reports Wednesday show Kepperd Steiies, Coyote, Fullview, Valley Mills, Smith Bend, and McHeming nearing or meeting quotas, with Clifton among the strongest responders and thanks voiced to volunteers, citizens, and local leaders for their steady effort over six days.
R Stanford suffered a stroke last Friday at the family home. The right side was affected, with the leg and arm weakness noted as the condition began from bed. He has shown improvement through the week as relatives from Pittsburg and Shreveport arrive to assist his recovery and aid his parents in returning to normal health.
Rev. DeYoung assumes duties as the Clifton Baptist Church pastor arriving from Groesbeck this week. He and Mrs DeYoung settled in after years there and were warmly greeted by the congregation.

Tournament organizers Raybure Reich, Gling Hennig, and E Harris were praised for their efforts, and Clifton College thanked the Clifton community for support and entertainment.
Mam Oochr Robins near Cranfills Gap reports government notification that her daughter Mrs Tolman and her family were liberated from a prison camp in the Philippines. A daughter’s letter to Tolman describes long captivity since July 1942 with hardships and relief at liberation. Tolman, 34, born near Cranfills Gap, and her husband and mother in law were among those freed, expressing gratitude for American troops and renewed hope after three years of silence.
J. E. Torrence and C. B. Siler of Moody lease the Braid Street building once the boat works plant and launch a Clifton business selling J. T. Case farm implements. Dick Torrence, brother of J. B. Torrence, will manage most duties and the partners have long sold tools in Moody. Readers are urged to watch the Record for the formal opening notice.
