World Day of Prayer Services are scheduled at 2:00 PM Friday at Cranfills Gap Methodist Church announced by Mrs Bernt Bertelson.
Mrs. William Bertelson and Mrs. Truman Pederson attended an executive meeting of the Central Conference of The American Lutheran Church Women of the Southern District in Austin on February 20. The convention will be held at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Austin on May 16. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Traylor and sons from Corpus Christi visited Mrs. Traylor's mother, Mrs. Gus Knudson, here from Friday to Sunday. Archie Nelson of Houston visited last weekend with his parents and relatives.
Gerhardt Gohlke formerly of near Hamilton and brother of Franklin Gohlke had surgery last Friday at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco to remove a blood clot near his heart. Mrs. Lee Larson paid to send the paper to their son Kenneth Larson in Dallas who teaches in Dallas Public Schools. Monday this week Mrs. R A Sommerfeld of Valley Mills visited Walter Symank and daughter Alice Louise while Mr Sommerfeld handled Hillsboro business. Mrs. Sommerfeld and Mrs. Symank are sisters. Visitors at the Gaustad home in Clifton Thursday night were Edd Erickson of Austin and Eno Grimm of Meridian.
The last speaker at the Temple meeting outlined feminine Spring 1962 trends. Silhouettes favor empire lines, A shapes, and raised waists with ruffles, bows, and cap sleeves. Skirts stay knee height or above with long coats. colors center creamy wool white, blacks, navies, and pastel or bouquet checks.
Bosque County 4-H clubs organized under county agents and adult leaders showcase democracy driven by youth and families. National 4-H Week March 3 to 10 features programs across Clifton Crawfills Gap Meridian Iredell Koppers Mosheim Walnut Springs Morgan Valley Mills and more with projects in agriculture public speaking and home economics.
On February 23 the WY Bridge Club gathered at Mrs. H. R. Hill's home at 402 West 15th Street Clifton for four bridge games. High score went to Mrs EF E Stewart, second high to Mrs Helen C Aars, and high guest to Mrs Dan E Orbeck. Traveling prizes for slam bids were won by Mrs Orbeck and Mrs Jack R Hill. Several members attended including Mesdames Stewart Aars Orbeck Hill Witcher Oswald Kincheloe Priddy Baldridge Jr Willett Goodall Tennison Parks and Miss Bernice Schow. Next meeting set for March 16 at Mrs V D Goodall's home.
The VFW Robert E. Binford Post 8553 in Clifton Texas on Riverside Drive meets on the first and third Thursday each month to conduct veteran affairs and community service activities. The organization invites eligible veterans to join and participate in post events and relief efforts.
Trinity Lutheran Church Women plan a March 8 gathering in Fellowship Hall with Esther Circle as hostesses. Devotional by Mrs. Reesing, World Missions report by Mrs. Standefer Jr., music by Nancy Swenson, and a worship offering meditation by Miss Pauline Dahl.
Henry Freedman of Valley Mills underwent surgery at Clifton hospital on February 25.
Wally Ludtke a University of Houston student arrived Friday night and visited until Sunday with his mother Mrs Martha Ludtke and his siblings Jerry and Ann.
