The county aims to meet a 490 000 quota as the Fifth War Loan drive concludes July 8.
Pc William X Tennison of Clifton is cited for faithful service in action in the Falun theater on October 0, 2043. The citation commends his platoon for covering withdrawal and repelling a heavy enemy counterattack, with mortar sections disabling tanks and keeping the right flank secure amid intense artillery and machine gun fire. He later serves with parachute troops. he is the youngest of four Tennison brothers with service in the South Pacific, the Valy front, and overseas routes.

Local businesses announce closures Monday July 8 and Tuesday July 4 for a national holiday. Several retailers including drugstores, mills, filling stations, banks, and grocers will remain open, with most employees granted a long weekend.

W M Kuykendall announces opening sale at Tivvstock auction barn in Clifton on Wednesday July 13. Livestock including cattle mules sheep and goats offered with weekly sales to follow. partner auctioneer Sherman Robart assisted. Kuykendall plans Clifton residence as family joins him.
