Grandma Oswald celebrated her eighty eighth birthday with a surprise dinner hosted by her daughter Mrs Ws Bertrand in this city. Fifty to sixty family members including 33 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren attended after church services and a stroll with graceful ease.

Man Fatally Shot by City Marshal in Cleburne Hotel
H P Hayes arrived from Vernon Alabama and was shot and killed by City Marshal A C White at the Cleburne Hotel after an attempted peaceful removal failed. Hayes fired on officers from behind a door and near the bed as White entered the room, four shots striking Hayes who died minutes later. The coroner’s inquest returned a verdict of death by gunshot wound at the hands of A C White.
