Cotton planting and conditions report from Kopperl and Meridian
The bulletin notes cotton planted about 30 days later than last year due to heavy rain in April and May with a small acreage decline of 2 to 5 percent. Conditions are excellent, about 10 percent better than a year ago, though early cotton suffered from excess rain and cold and is slow to recover. About 5 percent of the crop remains to be chopped out but clear weather should finish soon. Meridian reports similar acreage and conditions but stands are poor and less cotton planted than last year.
