Co. Agent's Notes on Rose Care and Low Maintenance Gardens
Article by Charles W. Henson provides rose disease and insect control tips including preventive fospet sprays every 7 to 10 days and monthly complete fertilizer applications. It advises 1–2 pounds of 10-8-6 or 16-20-0 per 100 square feet, a 2–3 inch organic mulch, and replacing mulch as it decomposes. It then discusses home grounds division into three use areas to reduce maintenance and improve appearance, with emphasis on simple design, plant-adapted choices, and screening between areas. The column ends by advising not mowing when grass is wet to avoid clogging and to maintain a neat lawn finish.
