Funeral services for John T Wilson Sr of Whitney who died at 7 16 pm Tuesday in a Waco hospital were held at 2 pm Wednesday at Wiest Baptist Church in Whitney burial in Whitney Cemetery Surviving are his widow a daughter Mrs Wayne Cox of Waco a son Soh T of Whitney a father E E Wilson of Los Angeles sisters Mrs H L Bryant of Elm Mott and Birdie Wilson of Eloi Mott four grandchildren and two great grandchildren He was a former Katy agent in Whitney and a brother in law of John H Sal of the city
The Fate County Courthouse in New Falls will be dedicated on July 4 in Marlin with Senator Pam Connally delivering the main address. Senior Gemma will speak at a state meeting of the Penny Temmerais of Tees, connected to various civic figures in New Falls.
The Central Testie Baptist Encampment will run July 12 through 19 at Latham Springs in Hill County six miles from Aquilla. The 94 acre grounds feature towering trees canyons springs and a pool with a drink stand. The paving of State Highway 61 in southern Llano County from Llano to the hard surfaced stretch toward Gilleapie County will be finished next week, giving Llano a hard surface road to Ban Ayr tonic. Other highway work continues in Man o County with preparatory engine testing on State Highway 281 and construction toward Buéhénan.
District Eleven American Legion of Tanas held its convention in Cif Neon over June 17 and 18. Registration began Saturday afternoon with a social at Tul state park, followed by a luncheon and entertainment. Rev. Mayden Edwards delivered the morning sermon at First Methodist Church, and John Dentath was thanked for noon service. Election of officers for the next two years was conducted in the afternoon, with Buddy Jess Thompson of Rockdale noted among attendees.
Mrs. Mike Hoff, 71, died after a brief illness at her home west of Clifton on June 21. General services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Novee, with Rev. P. E. Thorson officiating, and burial followed beside her husband in the Norse cemetery. The community extends condolences as an extended obituary is promised in the next issue.
Mrs Bertelson reports local goings on in Cranfills Gap including visits from Yallas residents Jewe Finstad and Amenson, plans for weddings and moves to Blanket Texas, teaching postings in Amarillo, and social gatherings at Mrs Hudson’s home. Many neighbors attend events and send best wishes.
Mrs. Mary Kellum aged 2 years 10 months and 5 days died at her home in the Coon Creek community near Clifton on Thursday June 4 after several months illness. Born January 6 1857 in Lenaisinnm she came to Bosque County at age 30 and had lived in the Coon Creek area the past two years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Roy L Smith Baptist minister from Waco with interment at Coon Creek Cemetery. She leaves behind a husband and several children.
