Homer Bronstad to Head Blanket Schools

Homer Bronstad was elected last week as superintendent of the Blanket Schools in Bosque County. He will succeed W. J. Jones, who recently resigned to become superintendent of Roby schools. Bronstad and his wife plan to move to Blanket.

Baptist Encampment Planned at Latham Springs July 12

The Central Testie Baptist Encampment will run July 12 through 19 at Latham Springs in Hill County six miles from Aquilla. The 94 acre grounds feature towering trees canyons springs and a pool with a drink stand. Paving Nears Completion on State Highway 61 Llano County

The paving of State Highway 61 in southern Llano County from Llano to the hard surfaced stretch toward Gilleapie County will be finished next week, giving Llano a hard surface road to Ban Ayr tonic. Other highway work continues in Man o County with preparatory engine testing on State Highway 281 and construction toward Buéhénan.

Matson Elected Vice Commander by District Legionnaires

District Eleven American Legion of Tanas held its convention in Cif Neon over June 17 and 18. Registration began Saturday afternoon with a social at Tul state park, followed by a luncheon and entertainment. Rev. Mayden Edwards delivered the morning sermon at First Methodist Church, and John Dentath was thanked for noon service. Election of officers for the next two years was conducted in the afternoon, with Buddy Jess Thompson of Rockdale noted among attendees.

Mrs Mike Hoff Dies After Brief Diness

Mrs. Mike Hoff, 71, died after a brief illness at her home west of Clifton on June 21. General services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Novee, with Rev. P. E. Thorson officiating, and burial followed beside her husband in the Norse cemetery. The community extends condolences as an extended obituary is promised in the next issue.

Pioneer Bosque Lady Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Mary Kellum aged 2 years 10 months and 5 days died at her home in the Coon Creek community near Clifton on Thursday June 4 after several months illness. Born January 6 1857 in Lenaisinnm she came to Bosque County at age 30 and had lived in the Coon Creek area the past two years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Roy L Smith Baptist minister from Waco with interment at Coon Creek Cemetery. She leaves behind a husband and several children.
