Rejected Lindbergh Fund Plan Drops in Philadelphia
Philadelphia officials recount how 8,000,000 fund for a Lindbergh tribute was abandoned after Charles A. Lindbergh refused the offer. Wealthy donors and bankers backed a public trust of 32,000,000 with $10 caps per person, but Lindbergh and his mother would not control the income, ending the effort.

Grave of a Murdered Soldier Marked by Unique Flora
A grave marker along a Western New York roadside recalls an 1814 murder from the War of 1812. John Alexander of Connecticut was found dead near Ft Ningera on the way to Sackett’s Harbor. A strange plant, later identified as Connecticut’s falve growl, appeared yearly at the grave, its mystery linking the Connecticut man to the soldier buried beside the road. The origin of the plant remains unsolved after more than a century.
