Two Bosque County Friends Honored on National Honor Flight
Dorothy Hansen of Crawfills Gap and Pearl Gum melt of Victoria joined 210 WWII veterans on a West Texas Honor Flight to Washington D C. The one day trip featured poignant memorials including the WWII Memorial and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The pair, longtime friends of over 70 years, described the experience as overwhelming and memorable.

The Bosque County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to ban sale and use of restricted fireworks in unincorporated areas once the Keetch Byram Drought Index reaches 575 or higher by June 15 2011. The action responds to ongoing drought conditions and wildfire risk in the county.

Local Lions to serve meals at Lions Camp
Members of Lions Clubs from Meridian Clifton and Valley Mills join the Dublin Lions Club for a trip to Kerrville on June 17 2011. The Bosque County clubs will provide hotdogs while Dublin Lions serve Dublin Dr Pepper Floats to campers and counselors at Texas Lions Camp during the Second Summer Camp Session. The Texas Lions Camp for physically disabled and diabetic children marks its 60th year with a goal to foster a can do attitude and personal growth.

100th Anniversary of the Wallace Swinging Bridge
Bosque County residents recall Faney Wallace building a river crossing between Clifton and Meridian a century ago. He designed a prototype in his kitchen using string, chairs, cedar posts, and cables, then with help from Melvin and Tom Turner completed a functional swinging bridge that became a Cooper Community landmark.
