Clif-Tex Reveals Expansion Plans and Open House

Clifton's Clif-Tex Manufacturing announces a June 20 open house from 5 to 9 p.m. to showcase ongoing operations and a planned expansion that will add about 50 jobs. The event, guided by Clifton Chamber members, coincides with relocation of the cutting room to Cleburne as part of the growth program.

Clifton High School 1932 Class to Reunite

The 32 Class of Clifton High School 1932 is invited to a 35th anniversary gathering Sunday July 9. Families will meet at Harmon's Cafe at 4:30 p.m. before dinner. Master of Ceremony will be J. M. Wallace of Dallas. Dallas residents Mrs. O. M. Aanenson is chairman with Mrs. George Arnold of Clifton as co chair.

Clifton Schools Hire Two Teachers

Kent Appleby, superintendent, announced two new hires for Clifton public schools. Mel Cowan becomes band director replacing Glen Judah who left to pursue a master’s degree. Mrs. W. E. Henderson of Crawfills Gap will teach Junior High English, replacing Lillian Gandy who moves to Lubbock.

Two Visitors In Clifton Car Truck Collision

Two visitors from separate state areas were in a Friday collision at 5 15 p m at West 5th Street and North Avenue M Clifton Police Chief Eldon Forbess said no injuries were reported though both vehicles a 1965 Chevelle driven by Miss Vickie Lynn Hulme of Houston and a 1965 El Camino pickup truck driven by Edward Lee Roth of Wichita Falls sustained considerable damage

Gun Club Shoot Set Sunday at Clifton Skeet Range

The Clifton Gun Club opens the summer with a Sunday shoot on June 18 at the skeet range. Father and son teams face off against other families starting 1:30 p.m. An open shoot follows. Three events remain on July 23 and August 27 with barbecues, five-man teams drawn from a hat and guest experts. Contact club members for membership.

Rain Helps Clifton Lawn And Crops Stay Green

Clifton received several inches of rain this week keeping lawns and nearby fields green. The U S Weather Bureau gauge at Clifton Funeral Home recorded 2.05 inches Sunday while Lake Whitney gauge noted 1.38 Sunday and 0.22 Monday for 2 day total 1.60. Valley Mills saw over five inches as water ran over Highway 6 between Valley Mills and Clifton. Winds possibly tornadoes damaged the Jack Maar place east of Bosque and Arthur Miles place at Mosheim. Small hail occurred at Calvin Rueter farm Star Route 1 Clifton.

Fourth Annual Bosque County 4-H Riding Club Show Beckons

Clifton hosts the Fourth Annual Bosque County 4-H Riding Club Quarter Horse Show on Friday and Saturday. The event, officially sanctioned by the American Quarter Horse Assn. and the National Cutting Horse Assn., features 18 halter events and 27 performance events plus Youth Activities with 13 extra events. Top riders from the U S and Canada are invited. prizes include cash, trophies and ribbons. Judge Darrell Nickerson oversees the competitions at the Clifton Arena with about 1500 seats for spectators. entry fees fund the show.

New Shoulder Patch Authorized For Guard Unit

The 36th Infantry Brigade (Separate) receives Department of Heraldy approval for a new shoulder patch replacing the old Texas 36th Division emblem. The TEXAS BRIGADE, organized November 1, 1965, features a white star on blue with red rays and border, honoring Texas history and wartime courage. Commanded by Brigadier General Ross Ayers, the brigade HQ sits in San Antonio and includes about 4500 soldiers.
