Central Texas Economic District picks first executive director

The 12 county Central Texas Economic Development District named Preston Hays as its first executive director at a meeting in Waco last Thursday night. Hays, 44, was chosen to lead Bosque and other member counties in regional development efforts. The district formed recently to coordinate economic activity across the region.

Record Entry Boost Expected at Bosque County 4-H Show

The 4-H Bosque County Riding Club hosts the 4th Annual Quarter Horse Show at Clifton arena June 16-17 with a two day format. Officials project a national record for events and spectators, aiming to top Houston and other shows. Judges include Darrell Nickerson with 1140 invitations sent nationally. The event features 31 halter and performance classes and youth divisions for ages 13 and under and 14 to 18.

Watershed Planning Priorities Set for Texas Areas

The Texas Soil and Water Conservation Board did not grant priority to the Meridian Neils Creek watershed, with Lipan Creek Wall and other named waters listed for planning within twelve months. The Bosque County area will continue efforts and a public hearing in Norse on May 30 supported the feasibility, while a Leon Bosque RC and D committee drafted a tentative constitution and by laws for a five county plan to be discussed in Dublin July 27.

County to Get 12.4 Miles of FM Roads

The Texas Highway Commission approves 12.4 miles of Farm to Market Roads in Bosque County as part of the 1967 FM RM program. Total program covers 949.3 miles in 166 counties with an estimated cost of 24.6 million dollars.

Outlaws Cup 1st End Tite

Clifton's Softball League completed its first round with the Outlaws winning the first half of the season. They will face the second-round winner in a best two of three for the city championship after the second round ends.
