Mrs. Eula Peters Dies Here at 63 in Clifton
Mrs. Eula Peters 63 died Monday June 11 at Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital Clifton after surgery in 1955 and long illness. She was born July 22 1892 on a Snider farm near Clifton Valley Mills and was married to Roscoe C. Peters who died in 1946. Funeral services were held June 12 at Clifton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Piez Todd officiating and burial at Valley Mills Cemetery beside her husband.

Local Guard Unit Heads to Fort Hood for Summer Camp
The Texas National Guard Heavy Mortar Company 143rd Infantry Regiment will move to North Fort Hood for a two week summer camp. Enlisted members depart in multiple groups for pre camp schools and the main advance detachment, with 33 members experiencing their first camp. A total of 96 officers and enlisted personnel will depart, the largest from the unit to date.

The Clifton Ice Co installed an ice vending machine by Canuteson Machine Works, offering crushed or block ice for quarters. Owner Charlie Isenhower overhauled the plant with new compressors and automatic controls, boosting daily production to 13 tons and enabling longer postclosing service.

Thieves Invade Otto Rueter Home Near Clifton
A Saturday morning raid east of Clifton saw two suspects steal a $35 radio a rifle and a German clock from Otto C Rueter's residence. Mrs Rueter watched a car stop, then the thieves fled before she reached the door. A similar car had earlier stopped at Calvin Rueter's home asking directions.
