Lions Club Banquet Delights with Louie Throgmorton
Tuesday's Lions Club Installation and Ladies Night featured guest Louie Throgmorton whose rapid fire jokes drew tears of laughter. He also offered praise and playful quips about women before stressing the value of laughter in life. Throgmorton, 75, has a long speaking career and an upcoming Dallas engagement at 11 p.m. He noted that laughter does not tarnish dignity but makes it bearable. Clifton Masonic Lodge No. 360 to install officers June 26 and hosts Grand Master Jack Hightower for August 25 dedication. Clifton Lodge, chartered June 1872, marks a centennial and plans building dedication. Whitney Lodge No. 355 to celebrate its centennial June 8 with Grand Master present. Future Homemakers of America executives met at Betty Brown’s home May 29 to plan 1972-73 FHA activities and enjoyed a swimming break with refreshments.

Bosque County Voters See Mixed Results in 1970 Primaries
In Bosque County the runoff saw incumbent Sen. Tom Creighton defeat Rep. Tom Holmes with 12 boxes for Creighton to five for Holmes. Dolph Briscoe and Hobby Sanders carried all Bosque boxes to victories in statewide races. Bill Hobby won Lt. Gov and local officials Calvert and Bonds won county boxes. Two volunteers from the Bosque Memorial Museum will appear on Waco TV show June 20.

Third Annual Quarter Horse Show And Youth Rodeo In Clifton
Clifton hosts the third annual Quarter Horse Show and a Youth Rodeo set for Friday and Saturday at the Clifton Riding Club Arena. About 75 youth contestants have entered with proceeds funding the Central Texas Fair. Event features include bareback and steer riding plus goat tying, barrel races, and a $50 belt buckle high-point award.

New Lions Officers Installed on Tuesday in Clifton
Wayne Gloff retiring president of the Clifton Lions Club told members and guests at the Annual Officers Installation and Ladies Night Banquet Tuesday night that Clifton has 111 active members and is fifth in size in the 56 club district. He noted funds from broom sales and light bulb sales funded eye glasses dental work and shoes for needy children and helped support Lions Camp Kerrville. The club also donated to CARE and flood relief efforts and funded local youth programs and a scholarship to James Prescher.

Ninety five beauties from 21 towns compete at the 20th annual Lake Whitney Pageant at the Lake Whitney Recreation Club. Separate junior and senior heats run Friday and Saturday evenings with $1 general admission and $1 75 reserved chairs. A door prize lake lot is listed.
