Clifton Gridder To Be Honored At Coach Clinic
Clifton’s Eugene Dreyer will receive the Texas Athletic Dealers Association scholarship at the Texas High School Coaches Association Coaching School in Houston July 30 to August 3. Dreyer was an All-District 10-AA football performer and tri captain of the district champions who reached regionals before losing to state champion Jacksboro last fall. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ervin Dreyer of Clifton. The piece also notes a local youth encounter crusade and a report that the Texas Highway Patrol logged 10 rural accidents in Bosque County in June with no deaths and one injury.

Petition Seeks Local Beer Election for Meridian
An application has been filed in the County Clerk's office at Meridian for a local option election to legalize beer sales for off premise consumption in Meridian. No election date has been set. The last county wide vote in 1958 defeated beer sales, with Meridian box voting 5 to 1 against in 1968. A similar sale election will be held in McGregor on Saturday.

Clifton Girls Tie for Best Ensemble at Tarleton Twirling School
Seven Clifton High School students joined peers from Texas New Mexico Oklahoma and Louisiana at Tarleton State College in Stephenville for a four day twirling and drum majors school. On final day trophies were awarded with Clifton and Stephenville sharing top honors for Best Ensemble ages 12 14.

High school move postponed until full completion likely after November. utilities and bus schedules to be announced later. The second semester runs January 4 to May 18, 1973 with multiple in service days and holidays noted. A Bosque County Needlecraft Show is planned September 1-3 at the museum. State Comptroller refunds Clifton sales tax as $10,963.07, down from prior year by $679.66.
