Hunsberger airport plan fades as Bay City purchase arises
The Clifton City Council backed Michigan businessman Elden C. Hunsberger to run the municipal airport on a one year trial, but he informed Mayor Isenhower he had bought an airport in Bay City Texas. Hunsberger plans to retire from building supplies and seeks a no cost first year with potential long term lease while city weighs federal funds for improvements. The council deferred action, heard a second proposal by George Murphy, and later learned Hunsberger would not proceed here. Equalization and annexation actions and an $8,531 revenue sharing check for Clifton were noted.

Four Grass Blazes Spur Clifton Volunteer Fire Dept Calls
Clifton volunteers fought four grass fires last week including two on July 12 at the R A Neilson property and near State Highway 6. A Turnersville blaze on the R A Tharp property drew two trucks, followed by another Turnersville fire at Paul Humes property with two trucks. Clifton police also made two misdemeanor arrests, one for disorderly conduct on North Avenue I and another for public intoxication on West 5th Street.

Clifton CISD approves 1977 8 purchases and mower bid
The Clifton Independent School District trustees authorized purchases for the 1977 8 year including insurance through Keystone Life and bread milk and a Massey Ferguson lawnmower. Bids were awarded to Mrs Bairds Bakeries and Pure Milk. Oak Farms submitted alternative milk prices. Evans Implement Co. supplied the mower. Extra bids from The Mower Shop Sears and Stevens were noted. Bank depository Clifton Bank retained. Gas supplier Conoco bid no longer active. district may keep Conoco without bids if no alternatives arise. An executive session addressed personnel matters. next meeting set for Aug 15 at CHS.

CHS 54 55 Joint Reunion At Clifton Civic Center
Clifton High School classes of 1954 and 1955 held a joint reunion July 2 at the Clifton Civic Center with displays of photographs and scrapbooks. A 10 a.m. chips and buffet lunch followed as letters were read from absent 1955 members. Dinah Kern led games awarding prizes to Dorothy Wells, Frederick Henkelman, Annetle Oswald, and Rex Turner for various honors.

Miss Central Texas Fair Pageant Entries Open In Clifton
With two weeks to the deadline entrants begin to file for the Miss Central Texas Fair Pageant. Entries may be picked up at the Community Public Service office and must be submitted by Friday Aug. 5. The pageant, Aug. 26 at Bettis Auditorium, features four age divisions and benefits the Central Texas Fair Association, co sponsored by Clifton Young Homemakers and the Jaycees.

Bosque County Heart Association Receives Heart and Torch Award
At a Bosque County Division meeting of the American Heart Association the Heart and Torch Award was presented to Dr. W. D. Goodall for reaching a 35c per capita giving level. The award will be displayed at Goodall-Witcher Hospital.
