Temple Texas July 12 A 14 pound baby was found asleep on a street crossing as traffic passed. Glene Calhoun, a local paper employee, sheltered the child at 3:90 while returning from work. Calhoun’s wife later identified the infant as a neighbor’s child and it was returned to the rightful guardian after a mistaken absence from its bed.

Washington July 14 Prohibition forces take full control in the house permit a vote on repeal motion. They defeated an amendment for sale of two and three quarters per cent beer and stood against all attacks on the general enforcement. One liberal mendinant was offered and voted down. Disorder rose as Rep. Blanton sought to speak against an intoxication definition amendment and Rep. Gallivan urged printing in the record how much liquor members stored at home.
Avato Texas July Inter national Harvester Company of America Chicago readmitted to do business in Texas under a decree by Judge George Calton of the Fifty Third Market Court today. The Harvester firm was ousted from the state for violation of the anti trust law and is facing proceedings under a 56 act of the Thirty Sixth Legislature. Costs are charged to the defendant.
New York July 15 The United Staten Grain Corporation announced there would be no advancing premium over the guaranteed price of wheat before Aug 15 as current movement from farmers does not warrant an increase and purchases have been small. Barnes will review the situation and announce any premium.
Special Woodmen of the World message announces arrangements for a Security Degree and Juvenile meeting next Monday evening at Clifton Hall. An open testing is planned and attendees are invited. The Gypsyirl fortune teller will perform, sharing fortunes one by one under M Stanton’s special deputy direction.

Representative R E Yantie of Henderson will marry Mrs M A Seller of Temple in the Hall of Representatives in Austin on Tuesday at 4 o clock. The ceremony will be officiated by Rev J F Mitchell with Governor Hobby Lieut Governor Johnson and Speaker Thomason attending. Mrs Seller is to be given in marriage by her son Morley H Seller of the 141st Infantry recently returned from France.
Washington July 14 The daylight saving plan will be continued indefinitely after the House declined to pass the agricultural appropriation bill over President Wilson's veto. The repeal effort fell short by eight votes of the two thirds required, with opposition mainly from agricultural interests but support from others.
Waro Texas July 15 labor will come from Mexino to aid McLennan County farmers. McNemara of the Chamber of Commerce says a five Texans committee sent to Washington secured an extension of the Immigration Act. All restrictions on Mexican labor have been removed until 191? loan. McNemara has concluded arrangements for bringing a large number of Mexicans to McLennan County to aid farmers in harvesting their crop.
A Texas committee and druggists push modification of the Dear prohibition bill drafted by theAttorney General to ban any preparation containing over four percent alcohol. They warn the move would block sales of popular patent remedies and tonics.
Abilene Texas July 5 Mayor Dallas Bearborough says the city will file suit soon to compel Southwestern Bell Telephone Co to restore the old rates in Abilene after a recent increase.
July 12 in Sweetwater Tessa Sweetwater notes a resolution signed by former soldiers sent to Representative Ford and Senator Buchanan opposition to a proposed bond issue for soldiers' bonus. The group labels the plan a voluntary raid on the state treasury driven by political motives and urges county representatives to oppose it. The report cites no local legion chapter present.
