Es C C Orbeck, thirty six, wife of Clifton business man and mother of five, died at Baptist Sanitarium Week after weeks of illness. Specialists and nurses aided by the family could not halt the decline and the community mourns the loss of a popular citizen.
The children of C. H. Lund express heartfelt thanks to friends for help after the recent illness and death of their father. Mrs August Rierhon Mrs H D Pendleton O C Lund J C Lund. Mr and Mrs W W Elliott and little daughter left this week for New Braunfels to establish a new home as Mr Elliott takes a mill position there.
The Civic Improvement Society held an interesting meeting last Wednesday afternoon at Mrs Griniand's home. President urged more member attendance and fines for nonattendees. The group designated the third Friday of each month as road hauling day and urged residents to tidy rubbish for city pickup. Local areas show weed patches harming town beauty. residents urged to contribute funds to beautify Clifton, while church lawns and school campus are reported in good condition.
Mrs. A. White and her daughters Minsex May and Ethel arrived in Clifton to visit Mr. and Mrs. RH Lee and other relatives. The Whites and Lees have long ties to Clifton and were warmly welcomed by many friends.
W W Vickery a prominent Mosheim citizen stopped in Clifton on Monday and left his check covering his Record subscription through July 1926. The visit highlights his local presence and ongoing support for the paper.
Denton Texas July 5 Will C Edwards publisher of the Denton Weeard Chronicle and Democratic lieutenant governor candidate pledges fair and full representation of all Texans and an economical efficient state government. He advocates better tax distribution without new taxes and emphasizes law enforcement and educational reform as central to state development.
Elizabeth Hyett Martin died at her Morgan home at 11 40 p m after months of frail health. Surrounded by family she passed quietly, leaving a life marked by faith, refinement, and strong character. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church by Dr Laurie Carlton with Rev Dean and Rev Walker, and a peculiarly comforting sermon. Born in Charleston South Carolina Sept 15 164d she moved to Mississippi and later Texas, settling in Morgan in 1863. Surviving children include C D Martin and others, with seven grandchildren and several relatives listed.
A Bapt ist church invites attendance at an eleven o clock service with Bro A W Morrin Jr of Cem net Texas as featured speaker. The meeting aims to unite southern association churches with a workers council meeting at Fairview church next Monday. Sunday School is at 10 am with BY P U and other activities scheduled.
The State Examiner granted Clifton College full recognition and said students will receive the Certificate Law benefits without examination. The college awaits equipment arrival delays, but the faculty for next year will be the strongest yet, with teachers holding master’s and bachelor’s degrees. Reminbert Stanford, former Santa Fe foreman, visited with his parents and children, planning returns every six to eight weeks.
Baylor athletic school for coaches reports thirty two high schools and junior colleges enrolled. The program covers football theory and practice with lectures and demonstrations by Baylor football stars and coaches. Several instructors will take coaching roles at Decatur Baptists College Sour Lake High School and Haylie team, as family matters delayed travel.
