Grassed Waterways Help Control Erosion Expert says

Buck Gregory of the Soil Conservation Service explains that graded grassed waterways reduce erosion, especially with terraced fields or natural watercourses. Waterways must be sized to handle a ten year storm and accommodate water from terraces and other sources. He notes high residue crops slow runoff and lower soil loss. Coastal Bermuda grass is cited for slowing water flow.
