Clifton Planning and Zoning Committees Elect Leaders
W.L. Spieler was elected chairman of the Clifton Planning and Zoning Committee while Clarence Fields Jr. will head the Citizens Advisory Committee. Leo Albrecht became planning vice-chairman, Leslie B. Vance was secretary, and Harold Kettler was Citizens Advisory vice-chairman with Mrs. Russell B. Kerbow as secretary. injuries occurred in two auto motorcycle and auto accidents on State Highway 6 near Clifton. Ronald G Bronstad and Beth A Bronstad were treated at Goodall-Witcher Hospital and released. Tomie J. Harris and James L. Hutcheson III were involved in a separate incident with minor injuries noted. City Hall elections followed a joint planning meeting with speakers from the Texas Dept. of Community Affairs and the Heart of Texas Council of Governments. Mayor Jim B. Smith called the meeting a good start. Alderman Burton Hoff praised the planning effort.

Substandard Housing Sparks Alderman's Question in Texas
Alderman Hoff pressed Mr. Beringer on solutions for substandard housing. He cited 6.4 percent of Texas housing as substandard and asked how to remove them. Beringer suggested housing codes and possible federal grants, noting funds are not yet available. He mentioned Farmers Home Administration rehab loans up to 8 000 dollars in some rural areas. Some communities choose to demolish substandard structures.

Car Overturns on State Highway injuring Gatesville driver
The subcompact car left State Highway 6 six miles north of Clifton, overturned in the roadway. Frank McClure of Gatesville, the lone occupant, was treated for a broken collarbone at Good all-Witcher Hospital Foundation Clifton and released. Patrolman Gerald Baker investigated and transported the injured man. The damaged vehicle was towed to Howard's Garage in Meridian.

Dog Officer Burns Named In Clifton
Acting Chief Grissom announced that Marshall Burns is Clifton s new dog officer and will add the duties to his current job. The ordinance requires license tags and rabies shots, sets impoundment rules, fines, and sale or humane euthanasia if unclaimed, with enforcement by police including the power to shoot rabid or dangerous dogs.

The Waco Armory will host open houses daily 8 am to 8 pm weekdays and 9 am to 5 pm weekends with weapon displays and interviews. Clifton girls swept the junior high tournament with eighth grade first place Hamilton second and seventh grade consolation. Hillsboro boys took first place Whit aey second and Ching Spring consolation. Clifton boys competed hard but did not win a trophy. The seventh grade boys gained experience and the eighth grade boys narrowly missed consolation by 3 points in their final game.
