Clifton approves used street sweeper purchase for streets
City of Clifton buys a 1966 used street sweeper for 3500 from Plains Machinery to aid cleaning as paving expands. Marlin trades in a Wayne three wheel sweeper. Clifton expects a freight car load of rock asphalt next week for pothole patching and alley paving downtown.

Fire Destroys Laguna Park Home in Overnight Blaze
A one story concrete block house on Grande Street Laguna Park burned to a total loss early Saturday. West Shore Volunteer Fire Department sent twenty firefighters and two pieces of equipment, arriving around 2 am and on scene until 3 10. The house owned by Mrs Bobbie T Smith and Mrs Patricia Smith Fazi was unoccupied. The structure was fully engulfed upon firefighters arrival. The fire remained under investigation at press time.

Burglars Hit Clifton Clinic and Drug Store
Burglars struck the Clifton Medical & Surgical Clinic at 201 South Ave T and the Pill Box Drive-In Pharmacy at 1711 West 5th St in two break ins Sunday. They took 691 dollars in cash and postage stamps from the clinic and 400 dollars worth of pills from the drug store. Police said entries were via a west end door and a drive in window, with 15 pill types seized. Investigations ongoing.

Charles Aars Celebrates 94th Birthday at Clifton Home
Friends and relatives gathered at 102 North Avenue S Clifton on Wednesday afternoon January 18 to celebrate Charles Aars 94th birthday. Over 80 visitors attended a two hour open house with daughters-in-law hosting and a granddaughter-in-law serving refreshments. The cake featured a large 9 with red accents and gifts included home made cookies clothing and flowers. A Hawaii gift from Capt and Mrs Jerry McCoy was among the unique presents shared during the visit.
