Bosque County approves 10 percent pay raises for officials

The Commissioners Court granted retroactive pay hikes to January 1 for Bosque County officials. Most annual salaries rise about 10 percent with monthly payouts, including Justices of the Peace and county staff. Senior Citizens program receives a $1,000 annual appropriation as HOTCOG outlines county outreach and services.

County Officials Keep Schedule While Behringer Delayed

County Sheriff John C. Baxter said operations remain unchanged with a two hour service daily. A proposed guideline discussion on personal valuation for county taxes was tabled until Assessor-Collector Ear R. Behringer can meet the group, as he was at a State Comptroller meeting in Austin. The Court will pursue Bosque County Historical Survey Committee with recommended members from each precinct, per chair Mrs. Sam Radde.

Bank theft at Winn's Stores in Clifton under investigation

Two men entered through an unlocked back door and stole 605 dollars from Winn's Stores Inc. 142 North Ave D. Police Chief Alvin James described the suspects as two Negro males ages 18 to 22. one wore a black leather jacket and the other a black leather cap. Police report also a prowler sighting and obscene calls at a Clifton business.

Basque County Heart Fund names 1975 chairman

Kenneth Nelson of Clifton will serve as chairman of the 1975 Heart Fund campaign in Basque County, announced by Rev. Frank H. Horak Jr. Nelson, a partner in Aars and Nelson Insurance Agency, will lead volunteers visiting all residential areas in February’s Heart Month to fund research and community programs. Wendell Bearden of the Coyote Community will assist as vice chairman.
