A local grocery advertises weekly specials on produce and staples. Shoppers are invited to visit the Canton Marten for low prices on items like flour, meal, corn chops, and garden seeds, with promises of a wide assortment and second hand items.
Monday night at the Curlee house on Hightower farm near Meridian the home burned, leaving the family in the snow. A January 22 program at the public library honors Robert E Lee, and Rev Hightower leads a revival at the M E church south. Local births include Homer Randall’s baby girl, and many residents visit relatives. Property transfers list several deeds in Walnut Springs, Valley Mills, and nearby areas with amounts and purchasers noted.
Clifton Commercial Club met in regular session with President N Pallis. A partial report showed the Civic Improvement Society funded an $8.15 supper due to plating losses, cleared from club funds. The oil mill committee presented estimates. Hering argued $25,000 suffices and 85,000 roughs were cited by Davison. The club plans to obtain a definite cost and push a campaign. Bylaw on depot park discussed with San Angelo official Von Ensleben. Meeting adjourned. Services announced for Scand Lutheran church next Sunday with Norwegian at 10 45 and Raeli at 7 30.
