Meridian Bank Loan Plot Ends in Forged Signatures
W S and J B Bales sought a $500 loan at Meridian's First Nation 41 Bank using forged signatures to back the note. Officials detected the fraud after two Morgan County men were named, and the young men were warned to return for a decision. Several figures and arrests followed, with local lawmen clarifying no signatures were genuine and notes would be pursued in court.
