McLennan Pioneer Woman Dies at 84 in Waco
Mre. A. R. Mebannan, 84, longtime member of a Texas pioneer family, died at 0:20 p.m. at her daughter's home in Waco. Born in Missouri in 1802, she and her family traveled to Texas in 1857 and lived in Bowne and McLennan counties. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Mey. F. B. Thorn officiating with interment in the old family burial ground. Surviving are three daughters and a son. Honorary pallbearers were neighbors and local men listed in the Clifton and Bowles communities. Palmer Lund, 48, died suddenly at his Clifton home after a brief illness, with Dr. C. A. Carpenter attending and the doctor prescribing treatment prior to his death. He was last seen alive earlier in the week and collapsed at home.
