Open House Marks Hoels Golden Anniversary Celebration

December 27 open house honors Mr and Mrs Charlie Hoel of Norse near Clifton for 50th wedding anniversary. Guests include family from Clifton Denver Comanche Fort Worth and other towns as Rev John Nelson and Rev Walter Gigstad lead a brief service. Their children Harlan Arthur and Vernelle Conner, eight grandchildren, and about 200 relatives attend.

Crawfords travel to Los Angeles for Crawford brother’s funeral

T. F. Crawford of Clifton and his father V. C. Crawford of Valley Mills flew to Los Angeles last Sunday to attend the funeral of V. C. Crawford’s brother, Cam Crawford. They returned Monday morning. Mrs. Viola Walters has been in the local hospital since December 30 after a heart attack and is hoped to improve soon.

Deer season slow but steady in Bosque County report

Game Warden Bob Rhody reports a slow deer season with about 900 deer killed in Bosque County and around 50 in Hamilton County. The largest buck weighed 147 pounds field dressed. the best doe dressed 120 pounds. Quail season midway with Birds increasing in weight and a 15 daily bag limit and 45 possession limit in the Possum Kingdom area.

Beef Field Day Set at McGregor Beef Cattle Event

Beef Cattle Field Day will be held Thursday January 10 at the McGregor Experiment Station. The program begins at 9:00 A.M. with tours of gain tests and climate effects on cattle. A barbecuse lunch is planned at noon followed by an educational program at 1:60 P.M. featuring Dr T C Cartwright John K Riggs Zerle Carpenter and Walter Kruse among others.

Clifton City Finances End Year In The Black

Auditor reports Clifton operated in the black at year end September 30 1962 with cash in the general fund rising to 11138 17 from 4565 63 in 1961. General fund receipts 84312 38 and expenditures 73130 21 show major income from water sewer garbage police taxes and franchise taxes. Total tax receipts 33696 41 and delinquent taxes 3142 05. Bond indebtedness 187000 reduced to 179000 with 8000 bonds due this year and 7555 in interest. Post year end voters approved 80000 in additional improvement bonds.

Meridian man injured in ladder fall at Clifton hospital

C. G. (Battle) Golden of Route 1 Meridian has been a patient at Clifton hospital since December 27 after a ladder fall. Frank Lormrude and his wife departed by plane Sunday to visit relatives in Los Angeles and Cayucos, California, planning to return this weekend.

Cancer Society Will Meet on January 7

The Bosque County Unit of the American Cancer Society will hold its next regular meeting at 7 30 o clock on Monday night January 7 at the Moose Club Lakeside Village near Koppers at the junction of Farm to Market Roads 927 and 56. Cattle and grain prices posted after midweek Clifton sale

Thursday morning prices list eggs at 25 to 35 cents per dozen with pullets 20 cents and cracks 15 cents. Milling wheat at 2.06 a bushel, spring wheat 1.75, oats 1.90, barley 0.98, shelled corn 1.20, ear corn 1.10. About 625 cattle sold Wednesday with ranges from 9 to 26.50 for stockers and calves up to 32.50 for steer calves. hogs topped at 16.20.
