A Thursday morning blaze destroyed a Jersey heifer shed and a hay barn in Clifton. The fire, with winds from the west, risked spreading to a nearby cotton yard but was halted by prompt volunteer efforts. No insurance covered the losses. residents donated $10 to the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department. A charter was granted for the First State Bank of Mornd.
