Public School seniors host a farewell party for C E Pierson honoring his tenure as head of the school. The event features a candlelit ceremony, speeches by Coach Smith and Mr. Cecil Hurst, and a gift of candy trophies. Attendees include Mrs Wille, Mr Wegner, and many local families.
Baytown resident Jim Robertson spent the weekend with his father. Mr and Mrs C C Hardwick of Alans visited O A Hardwick and family. Mrs Lowell Krizan and son visit her parents Mr and Mrs G B Jones. G L Robertson and Muriel Robertson of Fort Worth were weekend guests of their grandparents in Meridian. Large turnout of out-of-town relatives planned for funeral of Mrs Geo L Adams Sr in Meridian with service at Methodist Church. Mrs A Howard returned from a week with her daughter in Virginia. Gene Howard of Whitely visited his mother and family.

A shower honors bride elect Eee Kovdeon in Baytown. Various residents visit Morgan for basketball finals and Abilene trips.

Three young men drowned Saturday afternoon near Hamilton while testing a new motor boat owned by one of them. Cecil Whittenton 20, A G Whittenton Jr 18, and Sloan 82 disappeared on Eidson Law north of Hamilton. The bodies were recovered Sunday from eight feet to near 28 feet of water. A wrist watch stopped at 4 47 p m marked the time of the accident. Cecil Whittenton recently worked in Fort Worth for an industrial insurance company. The men visited Hamilton to see relatives and went to the lake with Alton Sloan. Mrs Sloan searched the lake area after 6 p m and a party organized. The boat was found upright and apparently drifted until fuel ran out. Cecil survived by a widow and child. Shan survived by a widow and two children. A G Jr was unmarried.
Mr and Mrs W A Wegner hosted a gathering for friends at their home last Friday. Guests enjoyed progressive games including Bridge Chinese Checkers and 42. Prizes of chocolate boxes were awarded for high and cut scores. Refreshments featured ginger ale salad potato chips Ritz wafers cookies and coffee with chocolate heart favors.
Clifton business leaders met at the City Hall to discuss establishing a farmers cooperative cheese plant in Clifton. A Kadame Brown & Co. representative outlined favorable federal credits and low interest rates for farmer owned plants. A Cooperative branch official will visit to explain formation and payment details. A fuller write-up will appear in the Record.
Farmers and ranch people from District 8 gathered in Belton for a February 9 meeting on cooperation and organization. Speakers included M C Jaynes praising united effort, Paul Haines, E Bowles, and C H Day of the Texas Agricultural Association who urged studying legislation to protect farmers interests and join state and national farm bodies. The group highlighted the association as the main cooperative national farm organization aligning with federal agencies and pushing for a national agricultural program to restore price parity.
Mrs. Sue Parka Reid a well known local figure dies in Houston at age unknown. Widow of Kent Reid she was active in the Pats 2 fund and held charter membership in The Methodist Auxiliary St Paul Church groups including the Chad Building Mauston Chub Circle No 6 and the Axsan Club.
