Whitney Lake Levels Rise as Bower Plant Advances
Water level in Whitney Lake rose about eight and a half feet after the Bower Plant began operation. By December 10, 1951, the U S Corps of Engineers noted the lake level was maintained by inflow to meet water rights below Whitney Dam. About 1 500 gallons per second pass the dam, limiting further rise unless rainfall boosts inflow. Construction delays due to defense needs push completion, with concessions planned and materials allocated to prevent major delays. The Texas Almanacs 1962 edition notes ongoing progress and availability at the dam area.
