Last Monday afternoon Clifton welcomed a Colorado to Gulf Highway logging party from Merriam and others. D J Tally of Wichita Falls president and J D Parnell of Vernon secretary delivered brief talks praising Bosque County roads and materials for permanent roads at low cost. Wholesale Arrests in Van Zandt and Rains Counties

John Goode a Van Zandt county merchant was indicted for abusive language toward President Wilson. Twenty nine Rains county citizens were indicted for conspiracy against the government and evading the draft law. Schultz Denied Sugar Supplies For Exceeding Limits

Paul Schultz of New Baden Texas becomes the first Texas retailer restricted by the Food Administration. He sold sugar in 100 and 200 pound lots during January, violating the limit of five pounds per town customer and ten pounds per country customer. Wholesale grocers were told not to sell Schultz goods and he was barred from purchasing goods elsewhere.
