The Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council released dessert recipes using Girl Scout Cookies. Mrs. Leslie B. Vanc of Clifton, local chairman for the 11th annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale, announced that the sale would continue through Saturday February 9.
A collection of mint based sweets including Minted Brownie Pie with mint cookies egg whites and nuts heated to a 325 degree bake then chilled and served with whipped cream and chocolate curls. Also a vanilla custard pudding recipe and a rich chocolate mint dessert with butter sugar eggs and unsweetened chocolate prepared as a frozen or chilled treat.
Recipe for a two layer cake using butter sugar eggs vanilla nuts crushed cookies and raspberry jam. Instructions cover creaming butter beating yolks folding in whites alternately adding milk and dry mix baking at 350 degrees for about 42 minutes and filling with raspberry jam and whipped cream custard. Optional caramel icing.
Community members welcome Rev and Mrs James Clark formerly of Latham Springs Encampment near Aquilla. Clark serves at Lake Whitney Baptist Church and seeks to serve the whole area while settling into a new brick home at Anchor Drive and Shore Acres Drive. Local notices cover security, law enforcement appeals, and community programs with multiple meetings and speakers planned for February to May at Bluebonnet Community Center.
The U S Department of Agriculture says SSI recipients stay eligible for family food assistance unless a state supplements SSI with food coupons. The rule, tied to Public Law 93 283 signed Jan 3 1974, affects USDA food programs and follows prior limits under Public Law 93 233.
