Clifton Riding Club Elects New Officers for ’72

The Clifton Riding Club held its annual officer election on Thursday January 27 at the Coon Creek Community Center. Anson Jones Award Goes To Clifton Newsman

Four Texas newspapers receive the Anson Jones Award for health reporting excellence in 1971. Winners include Mary Jane Schier of The Houston Post, Jim Burnett of The Denton Record Chronicle, Anne Dodson of the Corpus Christi Caller Times, and Sam D. Logan Jr. of The Clifton Record. Firemen's Fund Grows for Rural Fire Truck in Clifton

Clifton Chamber Names Two Appointive Vice Presidents

J L June Standefer Jr president of the Clifton Chamber of Commerce announced that he appointed Dr W D Goodall and Edgar R Keeling as vice presidents to serve in 1972. The group joins existing officers to form the executive and budget committees and to supervise a 1972 program of work as the chamber prepares its first annual banquet in March.

Mothers March On Birth Defects Delivers Funds

In Bosque County the Mothers March on Birth Defects collected 384.68 dollars for the 1972 March of Dimes. Mrs. Robert Rachiig chaired in Bosque County and led Clifton activities, thanking volunteer mothers and contributors. Other drives include Meridian led by Mrs. James Grains and Valley Mills efforts by Young Homemakers of America.

Tim Hoel Makes District Regional and All Area Bands

Clifton high student Tim Hoel earned spots in both the All-District and All-Region trumpet bands after tryouts in Waco and Temple. He is the only Clifton student in five years to achieve this. District region area and state levels in the Texas Music Educators Association system mark progress toward All State. Tim ranked among the top five trumpet players in Region VIII though he did not advance past Area. Clifton can be proud of his achievement.
