Jim Ed Bird Signs at ACC for College Football

Clifton star Jim Ed Bird, 6-2, 190 pounds, signed a pre enrollment application with Abilene Christian College. A tackle linebacker on the 1966 Clifton team he earned three grid numerals and all district honors as junior and senior, also lettering in basketball track and baseball. Bird led district discus with 135 feet, and serves as senior class vice president and steering committee member. He is son of Mr and Mrs Jim Martin Bird of 711 W Lith Street.

City Leaders Attend Municipal League Breakfast

Mayor Charles Isenhower and Clifton officials joined State Sen. J. P. Ward at a Tex as Municipal League breakfast in Austin. The TML hosts these sessions to connect city representatives with pending Texas legislation and discuss its impact on cities.

Hill Junior College and Hillsboro Homecoming Set

A combined Hill and Hillsboro Junior College Homecoming on February 4 features ex-student registrations and campus tours in the morning, class reunions and a film in the afternoon, an 8 p.m. Rebels versus Weatherford Junior College basketball game, and a 10 p.m. to midnight dance at Rebel Gym. Ex-Students Association President J. K. Lane notes both schools, with Hills established in 1923 and disbanded in 1950, will participate.

Burglaries Hit Three Craw Falls Gap Businesses

Three Craw Falls Gap business houses were burglarized Sunday night, with over 100 dollars in cash and merchandise stolen. Items included 89 dollars plus coins from a drink machine at Central Texas Lumber Co., 10 dollars and about 40 dollars of cigarettes at Gap Cafe, and 8 or 9 boxes of auto spark plugs a battery and a headlight at Dunn's Garage. Sheriff A O Carr and Texas Ranger Johnny Kremrow investigated. entry was by breaking rear and side windows or doors. The thief sought quick money, leaving many easily portable items behind.

Farm Bureau Week Drive Aims To Boost Bosque County Membership

Bosque County Farm Bureau launches four day member drive February 7 to 11 with a kickoff breakfast at 7 am at Cozy Corner Cafe Clifton. Pile of Mail Processing Near Deadline for Voter Certificates

In Bosque County during the final week to apply for voter registration certificates, applications surged at County Tax Assessor-Collector Earl Behringer’s office. By Jan 31 only 1484 had applied, but by Feb 1 the count reached 5206 with more names likely to be added as mail was processed. The Record will publish a precinct by precinct tally after processing.

Texas vehicle registration opens briskly in Bosque County

On Wednesday morning Behringer’s office saw a brisk pace as the first day of 1967 Texas motor vehicle registration drew buyers for license tags. Bosque County owners have February and March to purchase plates, with tags required on all Texas vehicles by April 1.

Central Texas Economic Development District Formed

Representatives from twelve Central Texas counties establish the Central Texas Economic Development District to pursue an Overall Economic Development Program with EDA funding. An initial staff includes a Director and planner as the district seeks federal and state approval and office in Waco.
