Moody Wins Municipal Waterworks Vote In Moody

Moody voters approved a municipal owned waterworks with 97 ballots cast, about 365000 in bonds and no tax rate increase expected. The Public Service Company currently owns the system and discussions for sale or replacement are ongoing, with eight inch mains and fire plugs planned as improvements.

Tyler Lawyer Named Secretary of State in Texas

Fort Worth December 26 Tom L Beauchamp St Attorney was appointed by Governor-Elect W Lee O Daniel to be secretary of state. Beauchamp accepts the post with a $6000 annual salary and will join the state park board. He previously served as assistant attorney general and Lamar County judge. Ed ward Clark currently holds the post. The appointment marks a key staffing choice for the new two year administration.

Jens Hanson Passes Away At Age of 84

Jens Hanson dies at 84 after months of illness in 1958. Born November 20, 1864 in Nablo Denmark, he emigrated to the United States in 1882 with Marie Anderson. He lived in McLennan and Bosque Counties, later in Hamilton, and was a devoted Christian church member and lay preacher.

Goodall Family In Serious Auto Accident

Christmas morning Clifton residents learned Dr V D Goodall his wife Valerie Shaw his mother Mrs Ethel Goodall and sisters Mincoe Nell and Francen Goodall were in a severe car crash while en route to Odenau A third party Raymond Stoker was told the group was taken to an Abilene unit and several seriously hurt Dr Goodall suffered severe head bruises and a broken collar bone and remained unconscious for hours Mrs Sibel Goodall had back thigh bruises and was the most injured Nall Goodall sustained a broken rib Mim Frances Goodall had a fractured knee and leg injuries were reported on the day after the wreck

Humble to Broadcast Cotton Bowl via Texas Radio Network

Humble Oil and Refining Company will broadcast the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on January 2 over a wide Texas network. Inaugural Plans Set for O'Daniel Swear-In at Stadium

An unofficial joint committee of Representatives and senators decides there is no prohibition against holding Texas Governor elect W Lee O'Daniel's oath at the football stadium. The plan plans for a stadium ceremony with 7 000 to 100 000 guests and uses a $1,000 appropriation for platform and sound equipment.
