Clifton sees spike in December road accidents says police chief
Police Chief Alvin James reports nine motor vehicle accidents in Clifton by December 18, three more than average. Four people have been injured this month. Nearby towns report similar trends due to heavier holiday traffic. Two males arrested December 13 for driving while intoxicated and public intoxication. Additional criminal mischief charges filed for jail cell damage. No injuries in three other crashes with listed vehicle damages.

City Receives 14112.67 Sales Tax Rebate From State
The office of Comptroller Bob Bullock mailed 864 city rebates totaling 50.6 million for December. Clifton received 14112.67, while Houston got 10.3 million the largest. Other Bosque County towns Iredell Meridian Morgan Valley Mills and Walnut Springs also received smaller checks. Texas cities collected 302.8 million in rebates for 1976, up 14.4 percent from 1975.
